Requisition ID : 8175
Overview:
Oak Ridge National Laboratory is the largest US Department of Energy science and energy laboratory, conducting basic and applied research to deliver transformative solutions to compelling problems in energy and security.
We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate who will support the Scanning Transmission Electron Microscopy Group in the Center for Nanophase Materials Sciences (CNMS) Division, Physical Sciences Directorate (PSD) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). The Postdoctoral Research Associate will focus on advanced electron microscopy research for quantum materials.
As part of our research team, you will investigate the atomic and electronic structures in materials and correlate them with relevant quantum behavior, utilizing ORNL's new capabilities of cryogenic monochromated and aberration corrected scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM). A particular focus of the research will be to advance and apply 4D-STEM and high resolution electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS) to understand the correlations between lattice, charge, and spin in quantum materials. You will closely collaborate with experienced electron microscopists and scientists on synthesis, theoretical calculations, and other characterization methods, across multiple divisions at ORNL.
