Summary Description |
The Department of Pediatric Allergy, Immunology & Rheumatology at Columbia University is seeking to hire a highly motivated post-doctoral researcher in the study of inflammatory/immunologic pulmonary, cardiac disease (and specifically, Kawasaki disease); expertise in mouse models, as well as tissue engineering, iPSC differentiation and organoid models would be of interest. We are seeking to understand the role of a specific regulatory protein in inflammation, as well as understanding how conceptually manifestations of certain immunologic disease may be related to stromal cell function such as fibroblasts. An interest is moving from the mouse model of some of these diseases towards tissue engineered models, however ongoing projects with heavy murine focus will also continue. Candidates will be responsible for managing multidisciplinary collaborations including engineers, biologists, clinicians and supervision of technical staff. This is an excellent opportunity to gain expertise in an innovative area at the interface of genomics and immunology with direct clinical relevance as well. List of duties: Functioning independently, the Postdoctoral Researcher will design, organize and conduct highly specialized and advanced experiments using established scientific protocols and procedures and in some cases designing new protocols; summarize findings and publish results in research journals; assume general responsibility for scientific operations of the laboratory; provide supervision and guidance to junior technicians, students, and researchers. Minimum Degree Required | M.D. or PhD degree required |
Minimum Qualifications | Successful candidates will be highly motivated individuals with a doctoral degree in biology or immunology, Candidates should have excellent communication skills and must be able to function independently, think critically and creatively, and be technically innovative, as well as participating as part of a dynamic team. The candidates must possess competence in lymphocyte culture and flow cytometry techniques, bio-statistical analysis, a track record of independent and collaborative research, and excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. |
Preferred Qualifications | Human lymphocyte manipulation and functional study, receptor signaling studies, RNAseq analysis. Expertise in mouse models, as well as tissue engineering, iPSC differentiation and organoid models would be of interest. |
