The Rush University Cancer Center and the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Rush University Medical Center are recruiting a two-year, full-time Postdoctoral Fellow in Psychosocial Oncology for our growing, interdisciplinary program serving individuals with cancer. The ideal candidate will have clinical experience in psycho-oncology or working with patients with serious physical illness. Candidates should also have a research background with some publications, be knowledgeable in advanced statistics, and will be interested in establishing a scientist-practitioner career.
This is an exciting opportunity to gain valuable clinical experiences via the delivery of consultation, liaison, evaluation, and psychotherapy services with a varied oncology population in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Patients and caregivers are seen across the cancer continuum (from previvorship to long-term survivorship and end of life). Additional opportunities may include program development, delivery of group therapy, research, specialized training with the Bone Marrow Transplant Program, and provision of group and individual supervision to residents and/or externs. Fellows frequently work with other Supportive Oncology providers (psychiatry, chaplaincy, dietetics, acupuncture, massage therapy, social work, palliative care) to provide patients with comprehensive and integrated services. Fellows will be asked to assist with facilitating health psychology didactics, and will be encouraged to take advantage of a variety of other educational opportunities including psychology didactics, psychiatry and medical center grand rounds and Supportive Oncology collaborative team meetings.
Rush is transforming cancer care with a new state-of-the-art outpatient cancer center, innovative technologies and treatments, advanced clinical trials and a cutting-edge precision oncology program. This is an exciting time to join Supportive Oncology, as we rapidly expand our reach under the leadership of Dr. Teresa Deshields.
