Title: Postdoctoral position in visualization of protein and subcellular structures using elecron microscopy.
The postdoctoral fellow will to carry out structural analysis of macromolecular complexes involved in calcium homeostasis using cryoEM and 3D reconstruction. A second project is the ultrastructural characterization of cardiac muscle tissue under physiological and pathophysiological conditions, using TEM thin sectioning and electron tomography. The postdoctoral fellow will form part of a multidisciplinary team that combines expertise in 3D structural biology, biochemistry, live cell imaging, electrophysiology, and cardiology.
The laboratory is fully equipped for all aspects of protein purification, tissue embedding, TEM, cryo-EM, and computing, and offers an excellent training program. The candidate should have a PhD degree in Computer Science, Physics, Biophysics, Structural Biology or a related field, and prior experience in protein (esp. membrane protein) purification, TEM, cryo-EM and/or 3D structural determination. Other desirable skills include knowledge in programming languages, and writing linux shell, Perl, and awk scripts.
