Job Summary:
Assist project leader with development and implementation of research projects related to cropping system, vegetable production, remote sensing and high throughout phenotyping using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles . Perform independent or supervisory roles in research activities requiring an advanced level of knowledge to design, plan, conduct and coordinate field trial experiments to support the vegetable initiative program. Responsible for summarizing data and preparing peer review manuscripts for publication and conferences as well as assisting in writing grant proposals and project reports.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Responsible for study, design, completion, and analysis of field trials
Responsible for collecting ground and UAS data
UAS image data processing and extraction using GIS software
Summarize, compile and analyze data for publication in peer review journals and conferences
Perform other duties that may be assigned by project leader
Install, operate and/or repair research equipment
Other duties as assigned.
Required Education:
PhD in Plant Science/Biology or related field
Experience:
Required: Experience performing and conducting field trials
Preferred: Knowledge in plant science and plant genetics
Preferred: UAS remote sensing in agriculture
Knowledge, skills, abilities:
Knowledge in plant science and plant genetics
Strong writing, verbal and interpersonal/communication skills
Ability to multi task and work cooperatively with others
Work independently as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
Have or be willing to get a Remote Pilot license for UAS operation
